A Comparative Study of Crosslinked Sodium Alginate/Gelatin Hydrogels for Wound Dressing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sodium alginate (SA) and gelatine (G) based hydrogels for biomedical applications, such as wound dressing, were crosslinked by calcium chloride (CaCl2) or glutaraldehyde (GTA) in order to overcome their exudates solubility. Swelling behaviour of prepared hydrogels in phosphate buffered saline with different pH value at 37 ° C was compared. It was proved that the crosslinking agent concentration, time, and pH of swelling medium significantly influenced their swelling behaviour. While local maximum of swelling equilibrium occurred at pH 7 for which conditions , swelling of GTA crosslinked hydrogels was found to be slightly lower compare to CaCl2 crosslinked ones. The results indicate that the SA/G-50/50 hydrogel crosslinked via Ca 2+ ions is a potential nontoxic wound dressing material capable of the adequate provision of moist environment for comfortable wound healing. Evaluation of an in situ forming hydrogel wound dressing based on oxidized alginate and gelatin.
Wound dressings that can be formed in situ offer several advantages over the use of preformed dressings such as conformability without wrinkling or fluting in the wound bed, ease of application and improved patient compliance and comfort. Here we describe such an in situ forming hydrogel wound dressing from gelatin, oxidized alginate and borax. Periodate oxidized alginate rapidly cross-links pr...

Background: A dressing often covers the wound to accelerate its healing. Hydrocolloid-type dressing to give better conditions for healing has been developed consisting of gelatin, pectin, water and hydrophilic polymer which promote healing. In recent years, much attention has been focused on the research and development of polymer hydrogels as biomaterials, such as contact lenses, wound dressin...
متن کاملEvaluation of Fibroblasts Adhesion and Proliferation on Alginate-Gelatin Crosslinked Hydrogel
Due to the relatively poor cell-material interaction of alginate hydrogel, alginate-gelatin crosslinked (ADA-GEL) hydrogel was synthesized through covalent crosslinking of alginate di-aldehyde (ADA) with gelatin that supported cell attachment, spreading and proliferation. This study highlights the evaluation of the physico-chemical properties of synthesized ADA-GEL hydrogels of different compos...

This paper focuses on the significant properties of hydrogels prepared with polymeric biomaterials: solely biopolymers (gelatin (G) and sodium alginate (SA) as base polymer) or in combination with synthetic and bio polymers (polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC)) for biomedical application. Four kinds of hydrogels: G/SA, G/SA/SB (without and with seabuckthron oil (SB)) and...

A degradable, cytocompatible bioadhesive can facilitate surgical procedures and minimize patient pain and post-surgical complications. In this study a bioadhesive hydrogel system based on oxidized methacrylated alginate/8-arm poly(ethylene glycol) amine (OMA/PEG) has been developed, and the bioadhesive characteristics of the crosslinked OMA/PEG hydrogels evaluated. Here we demonstrate that the ...
